A Mission Trip for Creatives

Just saw this cool opportunity that came across my Google reader this morning.  I absolutely love the idea that ANYONE can be used to advance the Gospel all around the world–no matter your gifts, passions, or occupation! I just talked with my students and adults last night in the Rock about the Disciple’s Mission from Matthew 9:35-10:4. I think it is amazing that Jesus didn’t ask them to pray for “them” (the lost who were “harassed and helpless”), but to pray for US (the laborers) to go work in the harvest field. He knew that the problem was going to be that we all tend to stay put in our own little world and not reach out.

I love this opportunity for creatives to use their gifts to advance the Gospel. It reminds me of several IMB trips that are out there for any of us who are willing to go and take video, pictures, etc. in countries all over the world. Even better–take the family with you!!

This all reminds me of Charity Water founder Scott Harrison’s “story” or testimony. He went to volunteer for Mercy Ships as a photographer and God broke his heart for the world! Amazing story. A video of him telling his story is at the end of this post.

As I told the students last night, we need to pray and ask God to help us GO and be laborers in the harvest field. The first step is to simply be willing to do some research and see what is available out there to do. As you will see, the sky is literally the limit in what you can do to advance the Gospel all around the world. The second step is always the most difficult–actually GO and be ON MISSION.

Jesus, will you please help us to get out of our comfort zone and take the Gospel to the nations! Amen!
