To the Ends of the Earth . . . G.O. Team
The word church in the original language of the the New Testament can be translated “the called out ones.” Part of being called out is that we ALL have a calling to GO! That might mean that we are called to GO overseas to tell others about our great God. However, that might also mean that we are called to GO next door, or to the next office cube down and be a good neighbor, build a relationship in order that we might be able to share the Good News of Christ to them!
Tomorrow evening, our church is beginning a journey . . . a journey to GO! GO to reach our COMMUNITY . . . our NATION . . . our WORLD. March 1st, at 6:30 p.m. at CFC, we are having our first G.O. Team (Global Outreach) meeting. Johanna Jones is heading up this crucial team and I would like for you to hear her heart on the matter.
Here is an email I received from her the other day that I want you to read. . . an open letter to all of us to GO!!
TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH: by HILLSONG UNITED
LOVE UNFAILING
OVERTAKING MY HEART
YOU TAKE ME IN
FINDING PEACE AGAIN
FEAR IS LOST
IN ALL YOU ARE
AND I WOULD GIVE THE WORLD TO TELL YOUR STORY
CAUSE I KNOW THAT YOU?VE CALLED ME
I KNOW THAT YOU?VE CALLED ME
I?VE LOST MYSELF FOR GOOD WITHIN YOUR PROMISE
I WON?T HIDE IT
I WON?T HIDE IT
JESUS, I BELIEVE IN YOU
AND I WOULD GO TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
FOR YOU ALONE ARE THE SON OF GOD
AND ALL THE WORLD WILL SEE
THAT YOU ARE GOD
YOU ARE GOD
This is one of my favorite songs right now. I think mainly because it has to do with what you have been preaching about the last couple weeks in our Chase the Lion sermon series.
This sermon series is really hitting me where I am. I have really been confronted with just how easily I allow fear to run my life and keep me from doing the things that God has put on my heart to do. When my life is run by fear, it means that it is not being run by God. It?s not that He wants it to be that way, but that I have allowed it to be that way. I have allowed myself to listen to the lies of this world and that I tell myself and believe so easily. Why is it so easy to listen to those things instead of the Truth that is in Christ Jesus?
March 1st at 6:30 pm is our first GO (Global Outreach) meeting. Some of us may see Global Outreach and decide automatically that you are out?Maybe overseas missions is not your deal. They don?t have to be. We as Finley Crossings, as Christians, have been called by God to reach the Lost. They are next door, down the street, across town, in suburbs, the rural areas, across the state, throughout our nation, AND around the world. Global Outreach is not just about going overseas. It is about loving and serving people as we go about our lives. It is about intentionally establishing and developing relationships that result in people receiving and becoming like Jesus; including ourselves. It is about being so overtaken by the love of Christ, that we have no choice but to share it with others, near and far. We need to pray, pray and pray some more. But we also must be active. It is time to Chase some Lions. It is time to ask God to do some HUGE things and expect that He will complete them; despite our fears, failures, and the risks involved. We serve one GREAT God.
Please come to the meeting on Thursday March 1st 6:30 PM.
Be ready to brainstorm, to pray, and to share where your passions lie in the realm of reaching the lost for Christ. Maybe it is uncertain?come anyway. We are in this together.
I pray that God will come in power. That He will give us the vision that He has for us and that He will reveal that to us clearly. I pray that God will break down strongholds such as fear, insecurity, and doubt as we seek His face and direction.
Join me in praying for our time together. That it will be productive and more than anything, that God will be glorified as we seek to make His name known.
Isaiah 26:8 (New International Version)
Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws,
we wait for you;
your name and renown
are the desire of our hearts!

Let’s join her! Shall we GO?
