Gotta Love the E-file
I can remember going with my parents to Stockton/Lockwood to their accountant each year as he prepared their taxes.? Our first year of marriage, we had them “handle” our returns through him.? Actually, we had a little issue with the IRS concerning whether Jenny and I were full time residents of MO, which we weren’t.? I can tell you that it is very disconcerting to receive a letter from the IRS.? It could be the nicest letter, but it is the IRS!? He handled the letter and to say the least we were very happy.
Over the last several weeks, Jenny’s parents kitchen table has been full of forms and directions as Tom still does their return their in their home.
But this is the age of information, right?? Just got finished looking over the return and e-filing it to the IRS.? The shoeboxes with reciepts are still around.? Mileage logs still kept.? 1040s, 1099s and official documents still litter the room.? But it is so nice to be able to do the return online and avoid the line at the post office the night before it becomes late.? It’s as simple as typing in information and pressing send–all while in your PJs!!? However, gotta admit that the sociologist in me doesn’t find this method near as fun as the people watching at the Post Office!? Guess that’s the price you have to pay for automation.
Got it finished . . . at least 24 hours ahead of the deadline!!
