Gas Buy-Down sponsored by The Journey

Pump 4 Team–getting it done! Had a great day at the gas buy-down!

50 people from The Journey served on Saturday. It was a wonderful time, and those serving really loved it.

We pumped 1769 gallons of gas, served 120 cars, and touched hundreds of lives!

Two different television stations came out: WPTV (NBC, channel 5) and WPEC (CBS, channel 12). They plan to air stories about the buy-down tonight (5:00, 6:00, 11:00).

NEW Pastor of Families @ The Journey Church

Just got a pretty cool email today! This was sent to The Journey Church family in Boca Raton concerning our new position as Pastor of Families. Please be praying for us as we make this transition to Boca Raton. Pray for The Journey and pray for First Baptist Church.

Dear Journey Family,

I am excited to announce that after much prayer and a four-month search, Pastor David Stone will be joining our team as Pastor of Families starting Sunday, April 6.

While our search stretched nationwide, David was actually in our backyard. For the last three years, he has been serving at First Baptist Church, Belle Glade in northwest Palm Beach County. I have personally observed and appreciated David’s ministry over the years and am delighted that he is joining our team.

As Pastor of Families, David will add value by leading and shepherding both existing and new areas of our church. His key focus areas will include:

* insuring that our already fantastic Journey Kidz ministry continues to make Sunday the best hour of your child’s week. As we grow as a church, we want to insure this ministry continues to grow, deepen and shape young lives for Christ.

* starting a new student ministry for both Junior and Senior High Students. Building on our teen growth groups, Pastor David will begin working immediately with parents and students in our church to develop a Godly plan for the launch of an exciting student ministry starting this fall.

* serving alongside our great staff, regular volunteers, members and regular attenders to help our church fulfill our mission of giving the people of South Florida the best opportunity to become fully developing followers of Jesus.

You will love David and his family as soon as you meet them. He is a native of Missouri but has served churches in his home state as well as Texas and Florida. In addition to a Bachelors degree in ministry, he has a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.

You will have the opportunity on Sunday, April 6 to say hello to David, his wife Jenny and their two boys Taylor (age 12) and Tucker (age 8) and we will hold a special meet-n-greet reception after the service on Palm Sunday, April 13.

These are exciting days for our church!

I’m excited about so many things that God is doing in our church: Pastor David joining our staff; Easter coming up in just over three weeks; and God’s great work that I witness each week in your life and the life of those who call The Journey Church their home!

Please join me in praying for our new Pastor of Families and for our church.

See you Sunday. Know you are loved,

Pastor Nelson

P.S. To help guide your prayer for Pastor David and his family, here’s a link to our Facebook page that contains a picture of his family.

Update on the Stone’s

We are headed to Boca Raton, FL (about an hour east but still in Palm Beach County) to work at The Journey Church. I will be the Pastor of Families and Evangelism. Something was whacky with the last Pressgram/Twitter/Facebook techno-Whizbang thingy. Here is a link with lots of information, followed by a link to the church’s website.

Happy Birthday Jenny!!

Unfortunately for the boys, Jenny is away visiting her parents after a college reunion this past weekend at OBU. We are really missing her–a LOT! We will be so glad she is home tomorrow night!

This week has really made me consider how much she means to me…as a best friend, a wife, a mother. We have had so many memories crammed into what feels like such a short time. However, we have known each other and been friends for well over half our lives! Crazy because I’m only 22 years old! She is older…23 years old (I married an older woman!)

It reminds me of this scripture:

The Woman Who Fears the Lord

10 An excellent wife who can find?

She is far more precious than jewels.

11 The heart of her husband trusts in her,

and he will have no lack of gain.

12 She does him good, and not harm,

all the days of her life.

13 She seeks wool and flax,

and works with willing hands.

14 She is like the ships of the merchant;

she brings her food from afar.

15 She rises while it is yet night

and provides food for her household

and portions for her maidens.

16 She considers a field and buys it;

with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.

17 She dresses herself with strength

and makes her arms strong.

18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.

Her lamp does not go out at night.

19 She puts her hands to the distaff,

and her hands hold the spindle.

20 She opens her hand to the poor

and reaches out her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,

for all her household are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes bed coverings for herself;

her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates

when he sits among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them;

she delivers sashes to the merchant.

25 Strength and dignity are her clothing,

and she laughs at the time to come.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,

and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

27 She looks well to the ways of her household

and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;

her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many women have done excellently,

but you surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,

but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,

and let her works praise her in the gates.

I love you, Jenny! I pray we have many more birthdays to celebrate together! You are the BEST!

CentriKid Camp–2nd Full Day

Just got a call from Taylor boy from CentriKid Camp again tonight…2nd full day of camp! He is doing really well…along with the rest of the kids and leaders. He was “a little bit homesick” last night…but “not homesick at all” now! How funny…and how sad all at the same time! Our baby boy is growing up so fast!

We had a girl commit her life to Christ last night and the kids are really growing in their faith. It is really cool to see them having morning devotionals in the room…I think it looks a lot like heaven!

Keep all the kids in prayer as they have one more full day of camp programming left tomorrow and they head home Friday morning.

Muck Love….
