Friday is for Friends (Saturday Edition)

I intended on posting this several weeks ago . . . then yesterday . . . but you know how time seems to just get away from you!

One of my best friends growing up and still to this day is Brandon Boyd. We went to the same church, both of our dads were college professors at SMSU, and we lived in the same neighborhood together.

His mom and dad, Charles and Pat Boyd, are some really cool people who have been really on mission for the Lord after “retiring” several years ago. I use “retire” in parenthesis because I believe they are just as busy if not more involved that they have ever been in their lives.

Charles and Pat are currently in Mirfield, England where Charles is an interim pastor at Zion Baptist Church, an old historic Baptist church that cannot afford a full-time pastor. Here is their monthly newsletter for February. Please be praying for the Boyds and the Zion Baptist Church!

Thrilling Victory . . . Happiness Doesn’t Last Long–at least for me anyway.

The “Stone Boys” (Taylor, Tucker, and daddy) went to the second half of the Bears game last night vs. Drake!! What an exciting win and redemptive for a very difficult season for Barry Hinson and the Bears. But the cloud of Barry Hinson’s firing is still hanging around.

That joy did not last long as I heard this news of my friend’s firing as girls basketball coach at Nixa. Read more

Pray for some friends

The Washburns, our former neighbors, fellow small group members, and friends have traveled to Rochester, MN to the Mayo Clinic.? Tiffany is having a ton of tests done and seeing a team of endocrinologists at the Mayo Clinic.? She says this about the Mayo Clinic–“When you have endocrine issues, you go to Mayo- sort of like when you have cancer you go to MD Anderson.? They are the top endocrinology hospital in the world, and if I can be helped- they will know how to do it.”? So we trust that God will be with them and that the doctors can help her get to feeling better.? Pray also for Justin, Reagan, and her mom as they are with her in Rochester.? See her report on her blog here.
