Monday Evening Reflections

What a great Sunday! Our attendance was down quite a bit, but I think we had a really good service! Our worship band sounds better each week! Not that it was really bad before! That’s like saying, “boy, have you lost weight? You sure look great!” Makes you wonder if you really looked HORRIBLE before! Ha! It was “Stars Sunday,” so our elementary age kids were out of the service for the whole time, which made the sanctuary seem that much more empty.

God seems to be moving among our people.

We are finishing up our series “Chase the Lion” and God is really speaking to us about taking risks for the Kingdom. I believe that before this series is done this next week, we will have several people stepping out in faith and doing amazing things that only God can do through them!! I really think the parable we talked about has hit me really hard and our people as well. We will be unpacking the sermon each week on the Regeneration Devotional Blog. It will not be near as “put together” as the actual devotional for Regeneration, but I think it will be a great way for our church family to comment on a shared experience through Scripture. Check it out.

We had a GroupLink right after service and we had two groups multiply giving us four “brand new” groups in addition to our existing Community Groups and Starting Point Groups. We had several people added to two of those groups and one person being added to the men’s group.

I am so thankful to God to have Kris leading our small group ministry. His heart is for people and he really wants everyone to be a part of a true community through groups. If you still need to plug into a group, simply email him at kris at finleycrossings.com and he will try to get your plugged in to a group this spring.

We are going to have a pretty big group go through CLASS 101 this next Sunday! We are going to have about a dozen new members running around CFC helping us with our mission! I really love teaching 101! It reminds me (and Jenny) of why we planted this church and how far we have come in just a few short years. It is also exciting to talk about the future of our church! I love talking about our vision because it is all about helping people who are far away from God to be able to come to a safe place and find a relationship with Him. I love the fact that people say all of the time . . . “it doesn’t feel like church–it feels like home!” That is on purpose! We work really hard to make the place feel warm and inviting . . . a place you would like to come back to–and the next time with a friend in tow. If you would like to attend 101, you can email me at david at finleycrossings.com.

Our Community Group met last night and went out to eat afterwards together. It was our “last supper” with the group. (They kicked us out so we could start another group!) I think it was just because they couldn’t hang with us married folks with kids! We are a pretty happenin’ crowd with all of our kids and lame stories of laundry and carpools! One of these days, they will wake up and their hair will be all gray and taking their kids to Kindergarten . . . but until then, they are going to be sad that the “kindly ol’ pastor David” is not in their group anymore! Seriously, it has been a blast, and our group is multiplying so more people can experience this awesome thing called Groups.

I’m excited about this next chapter in our church! It should be a lot of fun around here!
